Japan is sending drugs to 43 countries for testing against corona

In Japan, a drug designed to treat the common cold, Favipiravir, has been tested for use against the corona virus. A Chinese research team has noted that the drug has a positive effect, and Japan has begun sending the drug to 43 countries for testing. A Massachusetts doctor has even begun a second phase trial of Favipiravir. Known as the Avigan brand, the drug prevents the virus from growing in human cells. The drug was developed in 2014 by the Japanese chemical company Fujifilm Holding Company. Following the declaration of a state of emergency in Japan until May 31, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Monday announced the decision to conduct a febrile trial. The Japanese government began increasing the production of Favipiravir in April. Researchers estimate that this could have a positive effect on the treatment of corona virus. The Japanese government has not yet set a price for the drug. The price of any medicine produced in Japan is set by the government itself. Japan’s foreign minister, Tosimetsu Motegi, has said that the drug is being tested in 20 to 100 people in 43 countries. Japan is sending drugs .

The second phase of Favipiravir was started last April in 50 patients at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the second teaching hospital at Harvard University in Massachusetts. Robert Feinberg, head of the school’s drug development department, said he believed the drug could reduce the time it takes for an infected person to recover and reduce complications. Researchers in China and Japan have been studying the effectiveness of Favipiravir for the past few months. The drug has been tested in China and Italy. The drug is also being tested in India. A test in China showed that the patient’s test was negative within four days of taking the drug.  According to the National Biotechnology Development Center of China, only eight percent of patients who have used the drug Phevipiravir had to use a ventilator. Scientists around the world are running to develop vaccines and drugs against the corona virus. The United States has decided to use anti-Ebola drug remedicivir corona virus after earlier medical tests showed success. Japan is sending drugs.
